Pilkington’s Gamble : Scene 3
“My Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen – thank you for finding time to participate in this, the penultimate mock Division Bell test before the Parliamentary recess. I shall keep the formalities short. Suffice it to say that the test was a success. Your very presence here confirms that. We need detain you no further. Just one final point, if I may, During our customary “in the margins mingling” could I ask you to take the time to confirm your diaries are still clear for the hot wash-up session later today.”
Pilkington looked around the room. It was filled with many familiar “Monday morning test” faces. Discretion meant that little “mingling” was actually done by anybody present at the venue itself. All left in the usual manner to discuss matters in smaller groups. Or, as in Pilkington’s case, left individually to go to their respective offices to start drafting their reports of the weekend’s events.
